Loano: seas and mountains

Loano is Blue Flag and boasts ISO 14001 certification. It has an interesting historical center dating back to the Doria period and is an entirely restricted traffic area. Over 2000 meters of coast are managed in full compliance with the existing regional plan of the coast and the complete renovation intervention of the sea walk in year 2000 was realized in accordance with the current detailed plan.

On the beach overlooking the blue Ligurian Sea, Loano reveals the best of its tourist vocation, which is rooted in a maritime tradition that links city growth to fishing activities, its touristic port and seaside businesses. It safeguards the marine environment with a major project at European level that contributes to the development of ecological conditions to favor the repopulation of marine flora and fauna.

In the immediate hinterland, the typical Liguria landscape leaves room for a hillside landscape. To enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the harbor and the hills that lead to the sea just reach the SS Church Cosma and Damiano. Descending towards the valley you will find the path leading to the Bric of the Five Trees. From Verzi, a hamlet of Loano, you can reach the ancient Church of S.Martino situated on a hilltop 180 mt. high and overlooks the splendid valley below. Starting out from Verzi you can walk along the path and through a dense vegetation to reach the CAI hut at Pian delle Bosse (841 mt.) where you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the sea. The hut is a stop for those who want to reach the highest hilltop in the province of Savona, Mount Carmo.
